Maccabi Tel Aviv took a major step toward the Israeli Premier League crown with a commanding 3-0 victory over Maccabi Haifa at Sammy Ofer Stadium.
Wesley Patati opened the scoring with a stunning solo effort, Osher Davida doubled the lead before halftime, and Ido Shahar put the game beyond doubt late on.
While Tel Aviv cruised, Hapoel Be’er Sheva stumbled at Teddy Stadium. Omer Atzili converted a penalty to give Beitar Jerusalem an early lead, and despite Dan Biton's stoppage-time equalizer, Be’er Sheva could only manage a 1-1 draw — a costly result in the tight title race.
Still, the championship is not decided yet.
Heading into the final round, Maccabi Tel Aviv lead the standings and need just a point to secure the title. However, if they draw and Be’er Sheva win their match by a three-goal margin, it will be Be’er Sheva who lift the trophy on goal difference.
A dramatic finish awaits.
