Marwan Hamdy: The Striker in a Doctor’s Coat

Ismaily’s forward, Marwan Hamdy, has caught attention not only with his goals but also with his unique celebration.

After scoring against Tala'ea El Gaish, Hamdy celebrated by donning a doctor’s coat, a nod to his medical studies.

"I didn’t expect the celebration to get so much attention," Hamdy told DMC Channel. "I had planned it in advance, placing the coat behind the goal. When I scored, I put it on to highlight my journey as both a footballer and a medical student."

The 23-year-old striker has been balancing his medical studies with professional football, crediting his parents and the late coach Ihab Galal for their support. "Galal once told me to focus on my exams before a match, assuring me my place in the team would be waiting when I returned," Hamdy revealed.

Hamdy has pursued a career as a doctor, but his decision to stick with football made him focus on a Sports Physiotherapy degree he is completing nowadays.

Though no official transfer offers have reached Ismaily, Hamdy remains ambitious about playing abroad, noting his fluency in English and German as an asset. Meanwhile, Ismaily struggles in the league, sitting 13th with 12 points after 11 rounds. They will face Zamalek next, hoping to bounce back from consecutive defeats.
