Tragic news shook the Israeli football community on Tuesday, as former national team midfielder Gadi Kinda passed away at the age of 31, following a difficult battle with a serious medical condition.
The illness kept Kinda hospitalised and fighting for his life for several weeks, where the player suffered a severe and quick downgrade in his medical situation.

Born in Ethiopia and raised in Ashdod, Kinda rose through the ranks of SC Ashdod before making a name for himself with Beitar Jerusalem, where his flair, vision, and creativity in midfield made him a fan favorite. He later featured for Maccabi Haifa, and eventually made the leap abroad to join Sporting Kansas City in Major League Soccer, where he continued to shine on and off the pitch.
Kinda also wore the colors of the Israeli national team, earning 10 caps and scoring twice in the light blue shirt. His most memorable performances included a goal against Slovakia in the UEFA Nations League and a dazzling display against Scotland that reminded fans of his unique technical gifts.
A quiet and humble personality off the field, Kinda was respected by teammates, coaches, and fans alike for his work ethic, warmth, and deep love for the game. His journey from the neighbourhoods of Ashdod to international football inspired many young players from marginalised communities in Israel.
The Israel Football Association released a statement expressing deep sorrow, calling Kinda "a model professional and a beloved teammate whose presence on and off the field will be deeply missed."
Clubs across Israel and the MLS have begun paying tribute to Kinda’s legacy. Sporting Kansas City tweeted, “We are heartbroken by the passing of Gadi Kinda. He brought light, joy, and immense talent to our club. He will forever be part of our family.”
He is survived by his wife and two girls.
As tributes pour in from around the world, the loss of Gadi Kinda is felt deeply across the football world — a reminder of both the fragility of life and the enduring power of sport to connect, uplift, and inspire.
May his memory be a blessing.
