Vito the Vizcacha Unveiled as U-20 World Cup Mascot in Chile

FIFA has officially unveiled Vito the Vizcacha as the mascot for the FIFA U-20 World Cup Chile 2025, set to take place from 27 September to 19 October across four cities: Santiago, Valparaíso, Rancagua, and Talca.

Vito, a playful and energetic vizcacha native to South America, was introduced during a lively ceremony in Valparaíso attended by local children, dignitaries, and football legends, including Elias Figueroa. With his name derived from the Latin word for "life", Vito aims to embody the vibrancy, resilience, and warmth of the Chilean people.

The mascot launch featured community murals, live music, and football activities, marking the start of the tournament’s cultural build-up. “Vito is sociable, welcoming and passionate – much like the people of Chile,” said FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström. “He’s all about building trust and a sense of community.”

This will be Chile’s second time hosting the tournament, previously staged there in 1987. Fans can now register their interest for tickets on FIFA’s official website.

The U-20 World Cup, which has helped launch the careers of stars like Messi and Haaland, will feature 24 teams including Brazil, France, Japan, USA, Nigeria, and hosts Chile.
