Almería Sold to Saudi-Led Consortium

UD Almería has officially changed hands, with former owner H.E. Turki Al Alshikh finalizing the sale of the Spanish club to a consortium of investors led by SMC Group.

The deal marks a significant shift for the La Liga side, with the SMC Group—billed as the largest media, advertising, and sports conglomerate in the Middle East—now assuming control.

Mohamed Alkhereiji, Chairman of SMC, will head the new ownership group. Despite the transition, current CEO Mohamed El Assy and his team will continue to manage the club, as the consortium reportedly plans strategic investments in both the first team and the youth academy.

The move signals a renewed ambition for Almería as they look to rebuild and compete at the highest level in Spanish football.
