The match commenced with Al-Ahli asserting dominance early on. Roberto Firmino opened the scoring in the 9th minute, capitalizing on a well-orchestrated attack. Ivan Toney doubled the lead in the 27th minute, with his goal confirmed after a VAR review. Al-Hilal managed to reduce the deficit just before halftime, as Salem Al-Dawsari found the net in the 42nd minute.

The second half saw heightened tensions, culminating in Al-Hilal's Kalidou Koulibaly receiving a second yellow card on the hour mark, leaving his team with ten men. Despite this setback, Al-Hilal had a chance to equalize when they were awarded a penalty. However, Franck Kessie's attempt was thwarted by Al-Ahli's goalkeeper, Yassine Bounou. In stoppage time, Feras Al-Brikan sealed the victory for Al-Ahli with a decisive goal.

Al-Ahli's head coach, Matthias Jaissle, praised his team's performance and the unwavering support from fans, emphasizing the collective effort that led to this achievement. Defender Roger Ibanez, named man of the match, highlighted the squad's unity and commitment to their coach.

Conversely, Al-Hilal's coach, Jorge Jesus, expressed dissatisfaction with the officiating, suggesting that the referee's decisions contributed to his team's performance. He acknowledged his responsibility for the loss and indicated uncertainty about his future with the club, especially with the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in June.

Al-Ahli now awaits the winner between Al-Nassr and Japan's Kawasaki Frontale in the final, scheduled to be held at the same venue on May 3, 2025.
