OFFICIAL: Israeli Hapoel Be'er Sheva Invites Emirati Shabab Al-Ahli for a Friendly

Israeli cup winners Hapoel Be’er Sheva sent an official invitation to the Emirati cup winners, Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai, to play a friendly in Israel.

On Thursday, the Israeli club sent an official invitation to its Emirati counterpart. Be’er Sheva released a series of publications on social media, and now it’s Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai’s turn to answer.

It is worth to mention that Hapoel Be’er Sheva is an unstable situation with the club’s owners, Alona Barakat, who is interested in selling the club. It might be that the decision to invite an Emirati club for friendly might not only encompass coexistence sentiments, but rather an attempt to create a purchase option or a financial opportunity.

The current warming relationships between Israel and the United Arab Emirates is a result of the ‘Abraham Agreement’ that the United States government is promoting in the region. It was just a matter of time until the current trend would echo on to football in the area, and there we have it — an early bird of football collaboration between Israel and the UAE.
