Burkina Faso have been consistent in this tournament. Even with chaos back home, following a coup that has held most of the country under curfew, the Stallions kept winning on the field in Cameroon. They’ve given their citizens a much-needed ray of sunshine, reaching their third semi final in nine years. Bertrand Traoré, Gustavo Sangaré and their crew can cause problems to any team on the continent.
Senegal were the main favourites to win AFCON 2021 in Cameroon, yet they started the tournament slow, and looked unimpressive to say the least. In the quarter-finals something changed and the Senegalese contingent suddenly looked like they were in ‘predator mode’ against Equatorial Guinea. It’s Aliou Cissé’s players moment to show that they are among the best footballing nations on the continent.
