Coronavirus Times: Belarus enjoys its final 15 minutes of fame

While the rest of Europe is getting ready for football to return, but in Belarus, matches are still being played like coronavirus was never existed.

When the top teams already played on Wednesday, today it was a chance to see some of the mid-table clubs of the Belarus Premier League.

Shakhtyor Soligorsk v Belshina

Shakhtyor Soligorsk can be proud of their recent record, four consecutive undefeated matches, when the club is getting closer to the top places. Today they hosted Belshina, the last-placed team in the league.

Shakhtyor was dominant, as Belshina barley threaten the goal. In the 21st minute, an accurate corner ended with a successful header of Roman Begunov. 1-0 that was clearly hinting for the next. It took the hosts a while, but in the final minutes, Belshina simply couldn't handle Shakhtyor's pressure. In the 77th minute, a cross found Kirill Yankovskiy who got the ball and assisted it to Dmitri Podstrelov, who scored the second. Four minutes later, Podstrelov netted the third. The last goal was in the 88th minute when Belshina lost the ball close to the centre field, Shakhtyor made a fast counter-attack, and Darko Bodul quickly converted.

Shakhtyor Soligorsk won easily 4-0, and now they are only four points away from BATE Borisov. Belshina is still in the last place, looking for first win after ten league matches. Yaicks.

Slaviya Mozyr v Gorodeya

Both clubs can't say that their league performances until now are impressive. Therefore, today, Slaviya Mozyr and Gorodeya were trying to win after a long time. Mozyr won only once in the last six matches, while Gorodeya didn't win in their previous five games.

The match itself wasn’t the most entertaining. In the 30th minute, Gorodeya took the lead when Dmitry Baiduk crossed the ball from the right, and Denis Yaskovich was in the right spot to score the first. Slaviya Mozyr managed to equalize in the 61st minute. Francis Narh tried to aim, but Gorodeya's midfielder, Sergey Pushnyakov, stopped the ball with his hand. Andrey Chukhley took the penalty and scored.
