Quite an unusual scene in these coronavirus times.
Top club in Belarus tried to keep their winning run, while in Burundi, the domestic cup was on the stake.
BELARUS - VYSHEYSHAYA LIGA
FC Minsk – BATE Borisov
After a bad opening, BATE Borisov wanted to keep the momentum from the last matchday. Today they travelled for an away match against FC Minsk. The game broadcasted live on BabaGol with the collaboration of MyCujoo.
BATE had a decent opening, and in the 26th minute, they also managed to convert it to an advantage. A pass from Bojan Nastić to Stanislav Dragun found him without any marking in front of the goalkeeper before scoring the first. Eight minutes later, Nastić made another pass from the left, and this time it was Anton Saroka in the right place to score.
In the second half, the tempo slowed down and FC Minsk had several decent efforts but failed to score. In the 62nd minute, BATE Borisov scored an unusual goal. Pavel Nyakhaychyk was about to cross a corner kick, but his swing ball made its way directly into the net - a very stylish Olympic goal for Nyakhaychyk . It was BATE Borisov’s day for sure, winning for the second time in a row.
Dinamo Brest – Isloch Minsk Raion
The reigning champions, Dinamo Brest, didn't win nor score in their first two home matches. Today they hosted Isloch Minsk, who already won 6 out of the possible 9 points. The game broadcasted live on BabaGol with the collaboration of MyCujoo.
With the support of the local crowd, Dinamo Brest started the match with a few chances, getting close to their first goal. In the last minutes of the first half, the match got a twist. It stated in the 39th minute when a long throw-in of Isloch got into the box, with Dzmitry Kamarowski scoring in from close range. In the 44th minute, Dinamo Brest lost one of their key players, Danis Laptev, who strained his hamstring. These minutes could have been decisive for Dinamo Brest, but into the additional time, Pavel Savitski nailed a free kick staright onto the crossbar; Gabi Kiki headed the rebound in and equalized.
The late equalizer made Dinamo Brest look for the winning goal more than a once in the second half. In the 77th minute, a corner kick of Dinamo Brest was curled in from the left and caught the defenders of Isloch off-guard, allowing the ball to be moved from one player to another until one effort was saved by the fingertips Isloch’s goalkeeper. Artem Milevski took the follow-up shot and finally scored. Just before the final whistle, Isloch made their last mistake. Dinamo Brest made a last attempt to score, but a handball of Sergey Konstevoy stopped it. Pavel Savitski took the penalty and scored, 3-1 to Dinamo Brest.
Another game that was played today: Smolevichi and Shakhtyor Soligorsk drew 0-0.
BURUNDI – COUPE DE PRESIDENT
Two more matches were played today in the second leg of the quarterfinals. Bujumbura City defeated Inter Star 2-1 but didn't qualify to the next stage with a 3-2 loss in the aggregate score. Musongati continues with their sensational season after they knocked out Vital'O. The match ended with a goalless draw, and Musongati won 4-2 in the penalty shootout.
