Coronavirus Times: The Show Goes On, Somewhere

COVID-19 has taken the football world to a fascinating ride.

Like in a Domino game, one after the other, associations and leagues are suspending their football activities, with the pandemic now spreading to South America and Africa.

Yet, in Argentina, football is still on. While the league concluded with Boca Juniors winning the title, the Copa Superliga is somehow kicking off, behind closed doors.

Not all players were happy to attend it, with the virus spreading in Argentina, including Racing's veteran full-back Ivan Pillud who criticized the decision to play. But the show must go on, for now.

Last night, in the of the competition’s opening round games, Aldosivi hosted Racing Club, who is unbeaten in 2020, under the new and stylish coach Sebastian Beccacece. No fans were allowed to attend the match due to the coronavirus spreading in Argentina.

Aldosivi took advantage of Racing's alternative line-up, which included Alexis Soto, originally a left-back that played as centre-back due to numerous injuries of the first team members, and went ahead by two goals at the beginning of the match.
At the start of the 2nd half, the score was 3-1 but then, Racing responded. La Academia came back, equalized and eventually won the game in the final moments, thanks to a header by 17-year-old Carlos Alcaraz in his second professional appearance.
