Vietnam lost again, the mission is still possible

There wasn’t really any doubt that Iran will defeat Vietnam today.

Even though they tried few times to aim on Alireza Beiranvand, Vietnam is not good enough to stop a team that is one of the favorites to lift the trophy.

The Golden Dragons can sum up now their first two matches in the tournament. After 12 years of absence, Vietnam's comeback to the Asian Cup is decent although they didn't made a significant result until now. Their matches against Iraq and Iran were a good test for Vietnam's new generation, as they are fielding the youngest team in the tournament.

It's part of a long term planning in the Vietnamese FA, leading by the German technical director, Hans-Jürgen Gede. With thinking about the future, the young Vietnamese players can feel much more confident, as they know that good performance here will prove that their nation can count on them in the next years.

Their next match will be the closing match of the group stage against Yemen. It's clear to say that Yemen, maybe the weakest team in the Asian Cup, would be a much more easier task for Vietnam and it's a good opportunity for a potential first win.

Considering the situation in the other groups, Vietnam can find themselves at the next stage. Defeating Yemen by at least three goals wouldn't be a surprise. With that result, Vietnam will end the group stage with 3 points and positive goal difference, which may increase their chances to play at the round of 16.
